The Town of Wayland is actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Local Building Inspector to join our Building Department. In this full-time position, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Massachusetts State Building Code and local zoning bylaws. Conduct inspections of buildings and structures, Ensure compliance with state and local building codes, Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Building Department, Administer and enforce building regulations and zoning bylaws, Interpret and apply laws related to building construction, Maintain accurate records of inspections and violations, Provide guidance and support to builders, contractors, and the public, Collaborate with other departments and officials to facilitate construction projects

Associate’s Degree, At least five (5) years of supervisory experience in building construction or design, Certification from the Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS), Valid driver’s license, Two (2) year Associate’s Degree in a field related to building construction or design
Knowledge of building construction requirements, Familiarity with fire prevention and safety regulations, Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings, Excellent communication skills, Strong organizational abilities, Customer service skills, Knowledge of Massachusetts State building codes, Understanding of local zoning bylaws, Ability to interpret engineering calculations
